The Lloyd Symington Foundation has awarded my band, Iraqis in Pajamas, a grant to create a new single and music video, “Kitchen Pirates,” celebrating the power of a whole-foods, plant-based diet to support healing from the spectrum of chronic health conditions – including but not limited to cancer. I’m looking for people worldwide to participate in this music video – real individuals who have benefitted in real ways from switching to a whole-foods, plant-based diet.

Selected participants will receive a free Kitchen Pirate t-shirt, and will be asked to wear it while filming themelves, using a quality cell phone, and showcasing themselves either preparing or eating a nutrient-dense meal. For those who have access to pro audio recording equipment, I would also love people joining in with me for the chorus, “I’m a kitchen pirate!” (We’ll arrange that through file-sharing.) In addition, for those who are interested, I would like to add a paragraph about your healing story on the ImAKitchenPirate website, to inspire others embarking on a whole-foods, plant-based diet.

I would like to feature diverse images – different ages, ethnicities, and genders – so I encourage people of all backgrounds to reach out if interested. Comment below if you’d like me to contact you about possibly being involved in this project, and please forward this post to anyone you know, who might like to be involved. Meanwhile here are some additional details:

The video above is a rudimentary recording that I did as soon as the song came to me. I will be editing the musical arrangement – among other things, incorporating Iraqi Jewish songs about how to approach food in a way that is connected to the Divine. You can find out more about previous recordings on the Iraqis in Pajamas press page – which includes several videos we have created in the past. You also can link directly to our many streaming platforms, to get a better sense of our music, by visiting the Iraqis in Pajamas home page.
