Sleep Woking: When Resistance Is Conformity

There is a particular danger in mistaking opposition for independent thought.

You can reject one rigid system only to fall obediently into another — adopting its language, rules, uniforms, approved beliefs and designated enemies while calling yourself liberated.

“Sleep Woking” by @IraqisInPajamas is about that contradiction: movements claiming diversity while enforcing conformity; claiming enlightenment while punishing inquiry; claiming liberation while socially policing what people are permitted to think, say, feel and question.

Changing which line you’re expected to stand behind isn’t freedom.

Thinking for yourself is.
